Domaine Chandon

Enlisted to rejuvenate LVMH’s only Australian vineyard, Foolscap reimagined Domaine Chandon in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. The result is an award-winning swathe of spaces elevating both hospitality and premium retail experiences.

Foolscap led the full-scale transformation of Domaine Chandon in the Yarra Valley for LVMH Moët Hennessy, one of the world’s leading luxury wine and spirits houses.

Producing méthode traditionelle sparkling wine in the Yarra Valley for more than thirty years, Chandon's brief encompassed transforming the estate into a brand‑immersion destination across bar, dining, tasting, and retail zones.

Foolscap re‑imagined the visitor journey, drawing inspiration from the moment a cork is popped. The design bridges the house’s French heritage with a fresh Australian identity. Expansive valley views informed a visitor‑experience strategy addressing loyalists, food and wine enthusiasts, social media‑savvy millennials, and newcomers alike.

"The project has been an undeniable success. Coupled with favourable public reception and media response, growth in cellar door revenue is evident which we credit solely to this design transformation,” says Domaine Chandon Estate Director Shaine De Venny.

The revitalised precinct supports a diverse range of experiences, from retail‑led engagement to elevated dining. Foolscap created distinct yet interconnected zones that encourage individual “Chandon moments” while maintaining visual and spatial cohesion across the entire facility. The retail experience was designed to stimulate all five senses independently; engaging sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell to create a fully immersive brand interaction.

Alchemy provided the conceptual framework as a metaphor for the wine-making process. Spatially, Foolscap applied a “compression/release” dynamic: enclosed tasting rooms evoke anticipation and focus; expansive lounge and bar zones evoke celebration and release. Material transitions reinforce the duality of density and lightness, echoing the nature of sparkling wine.
