Cultivated x Mark Tuckey
Proving circularity doesn’t compromise style, Foolscap designed a zero-waste retail space for circular design pioneers Cultivated and Mark Tuckey. The fit-out was built exclusively from materials able to return to production at optimal value, challenging the norm of wasteful temporary fitouts.

Cultivated, Mark Tuckey and the design team share a commitment to reducing construction waste and creating timeless, circular outcomes. This aligned approach led to an innovative, material-driven concept. The former car showroom was transformed using three materials: recycled bricks, saveBOARD made from Tetra Paks, and repurposed upholstery fabric. No adhesives were used, and precise cutting plans ensured zero offcuts. Fabric was hemmed and suspended uncut, ready to return to circulation post-installation.
Launched during Perth Design Week, the space showcased iconic furniture and an events program while highlighting the lifecycle of every material.

The fit-out was completed in four days after a design phase of under three months.
Spatial planning supported both product display and street presence. Brick tiers and saveBOARD plinths elevated furniture, while dramatic drapery and natural light created calm and visibility. The draped ceiling concealed lighting and improved acoustics, avoiding invasive works.
All materials were chosen for low impact, local sourcing and reuse potential. VOC-free lime paint from Western Australia enhanced air quality and relevance. ArtBank-curated works and local trades deepened the project’s ties to place and economy.
